I've never owned a Spyderco before. Kinda new to collecting. My next investment is going to be a Sharpmaker. I'm thinking of buying a Delica. Any input or experience would bee appreciated.

GET IT! My first one I gave away as a present and bought one for me shortly thereafter. They're AWESOME and won't let you down.

The Delica was also my first Spyderco knife. It's a great buy, and it's probably the best EDC knife that I've handled.

OK, I'm sold. My other 2 EDC knives are about the same size so this will be nice to add to the rotation.
Thanx for the input

You can't really go wrong with one. It's kinda like the Honda Accord or Toyota Corolla in that it just goes about its' business in a non-flashy way while being very reliable.

Well Mr. Bill the Delica is a great Spyderco knife to kind of get your feet wet with. However I must warn you that knife alone is enough to give you a severe case of "Spyder-Fever" :D And trust me Sir you won't be able to stop at just one.

I could give you a list of at least 24 Spyders that I would deem to be excellent to start out with. But take it from a guy with experience>> Don't let others be your guide in Spyder collection whether they be for hard use or just collecting>> get what you like. Forget what people here on the Forums tell you or what knife magazines try to persuade you to get. Get the models that you personally are charmed by.

You'll get the hang of it quick. Oh by the way I use to love your skits on Saturday Night Live :D

Let us know how you like that Delica, that was my first Spydie as well. Just about 10 years ago now. Time flies!!

If you're going to start collecting like you said then the Delica 4 with the wave would be a great start. After that I would start looking at the Sprint Runs, knives made in limited numbers often with designs from custom makers.

I love Spyderco's.

Oh yeah keep the boxes it helps with resale.

mrbill16--my first spyderco was also a Delica, 17 years ago. Since then, I've acquired dozens of Spydies, and three Sharpmakers (I gave two away over the years as I upgraded). So, I must warn you--it won't be long before you're sitting in a meeting of the Spyderco Collector's Club, saying,

"Hi, I'm mrbill16, and...."

"Oh Nnnooooo.....!!"

I just ordered my first. A Caly III Carbon Fiber ZDP-189.
I can't wait. The new T Mag looks nice too.
