I already posted a similar thread on the Busse forum, but I think I might try to get my hands on a Spyderco at Blade show. What should I get with $50-$75? I'm thinking a blue or green FFG Delica, problem is; I don't really like the lockback. Can a lockback be done one handed? I've also seen a lot of people like the Manix 2, but I'm not a fan of the clear polymer lock on it.

When in doubt, going with one of the flagship designs like the Delica or Endura is wise.

Very wise.

As for saber grind (black FRN handle), or full flat grind (colored handle) - thats up to you. I prefer FFG, but its really subjective.

I also like the FFG Delica's and Enduras for that price range.

If you want G-10 and something a little more robust, you might consider the Manix 2.

At a blade show you might even be able to find a Para 2 in that price range. I've heard of some great deals at shows.

It really depends on your hands. Pick up some spydercos and handle them. I think the one you want will present itself.

For me it's the Manix2, it just melts into my hand! I have owned/handled the delica and endura series and while they are exceptional knives they just don't fit my mitts like the Manix does!

thats a polymer cage surrounding a steel ball bearing. its not weak, cheap, or flimsy in the slightest.

if its that big of a deal you could paint it. ;)

i also think the DLC version has a blacked out cage.

I strongly recommend the Stretch 2 in VG-10. Some of the most comfortable ergo's out there. Also, it's the smoothest/most flickable backlock I've ever had. It can be easily flicked open. It's by far my favorite knife in the $70, and IMO by far the best value.

I'd save a little more and look at the Para2 or the Superleaf or even a Sage 1 (all can be had for ~ $100). If you're stuck in that price-range, then the Centofante and Stretch are both there as well, but they're both back-locks.

you can get an endura/delica with the emerson wave feature. i have the endura 4 with the wave and its very easy to use and get the hang of. i can attest to the enduras quality, and as mentioned above spyderco dosent do cheap.

Definitely can't go wrong with a Delica or Endura. And yes, lockbacks can easily be closed one-handed.
