Hello everybody,

I read this awesome forum from a lot of time but this is my first post...so be kind and if I am doing something wrong please tell me, ok ;)

Straight to the business: I am an happy owner of a well used and loved ESEE 5 and this is my companion knife in every adventure,
but I always (secretly) looked at the ESEE 6 with a LOT of interest...

The only reason I don't pull the trigger (cost apart) is that the ESEE 5 kinda used me to have a "no-matter-that-knot-in-the-wood-I-am-wildly-batoning-I-know-this-knife-is-indestructible" knife,
so my question is quite simple:

I am not looking for ESEE 5 vs ESEE 6 comparison, but on your experiences on how tough an ESEE 6 can be...what kind of use/abuse does this knife support and how it's holding its strenght in the time...
Is this really the ultimate and realiable survival knife I think it is? A perfect mix in form, function and toughness?
Or I shall stay stick to my great 5???

Looking forward for your experiences!!!

THX

The Esee 6 is a great knife. But for me it is a jack of all trades master of none. It does everything pretty good but nothing perfect. Not quite big enough for the best batoning or chopping. Too big for the best detailed work. Not thick enough to be the toughest and too thick to be the best slicer. All that said it is one of the best Esee knives. It certainly could be this best survival knife you are seeking.

Will I ever be getting rid of mine? Hell no. Add in some TKC G10 Scales and it just gets better! And let's face it, the thing just looks good!

...just an update...

I finally got an ESEE 6...really awesome blade. The 6 is a great "can-do-all" knife, it can handle almost any task the 5 can do and better (except batoning...the 5 is undisputed!).

TKC scales on their way :-) thank you craytab

An excellent choice! You will like it even more with the scales. Post some pics if you can.
