Unless you're a big guy, the BK2 will probably be too heavy. It's smaller but weighs 16oz!
BK10 has a .25" longer blade but is 25% lighter.
BUT ... for a birthday gift, go for something really special ... the BK12 Doug Ritter RSK Mk2 Perseverance
