I made my first purchase using Ebay last night. I Bought It Now and payed immediately after with Paypal. I received a receipt from Paypal and an email from the seller saying "Thank you for your payment". A while later, I got an email requesting payment:

"Please send me your shipping address and payment. The following payment methods
are accepted: PayPal"

Both of these appear to be automated.

What's happening? Thanks for the help.

I have had this happen before. I believe it is caused where ebay/Paypal generates an automatic payment request email once an item is bought. If you pay immediately after the BIN auction then the request still goes out as its triggered by the auction ending. The delay can be a few hours.

This is my experience with UK paypal anyways.

Rgds

As a Seller on eBay, there are options to have eBay send out a winning notice/invoice. If the seller uses PayPal to accept payments, they can also have PayPal automatically send out winning notices. Why some sellers opt to use both services is something only they can answer.

If you paid, and received a receipt from PayPal, then the seller has been notified. PayPal send the seller a notice when payment is made as well. I would expect a note from the seller when the item ships, or at least a thank you.

Gypsy pretty much nailed it, but if you are still worried about it check your paypal account transaction history.
Ditto, I've been on both ends of this and I have had no problems. If in doubt, go to Ebay and use it to contact seller or check your won item list in My Ebay to see if it shows item is paid for. Ebay is usually just a little behind PayPal in recording paid transactions. Good luck Peter!

As a caution from getting burned using "Burn me Now", try to make contact with the seller first. Even if to ask if its' still in stock or something.
