First time handling a CRK folder

So today was the first time I got to hold and flip open and close a CRK folder. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. I expected it to be good. But I never expected the knives to be that nice. I played with both the large Sebenza and the umnuzann. And they were both amazing. I might end up being a new owner tomorrow. Thanks BLade show. Haha

The movement and engineering on those knives is something that must be experienced.

I have the 25 and a small Sebenza and I will never get rid of them.

Grab one if you can afford the quality and you will never regret it.

Being at blade I'm hoping to grab a Tanto umnuzaan from True north tomorrow. If not I shall still leave with a CRK folder.

And so it goes, another one bites the dust!!! True Believers all!!!

I love my CF large 21, but I must say once you try a Ball bearing pivot, it's hard to like anything else!

Being my first bladeshoe i made it a point to handle my first crk as well. It almost turned into a purchase right there and then but had something else catch my eye, and i figure i can pick up a crk in a bit when my funds recover

I have two ZTs with ball bearing pivots. And don't get me wrong, they are extremely smooth. But CRK just felt right. Both th pivot and the size and weight.

Yup... you're hooked. "Abandon all hope, ye who enter here. Non-CRK owners: ye be warned."

That's how I felt when I handled my first CRK: a large 21 UG from BladeHQ. I bought it solely based on its reputation among BF and CPF members. I've been collecting high end knives for over 25 years, but never had experienced CRK knives until some months ago. I've held off on buying a Sebenza for literally years due to what I perceived to be a weird sort of loyalty towards them. I prefer not to follow the crowd; I considered buying one to be just that. It seemed like an obsession to many who owned them.

When I bought my first Sebenza, I was blown away. I immediately devoured every bit of info I could find about CRK knives on CRK's site, this site, youtube vids, and CPF. I then bought my second Sebenza, a large 21 insingo micarta because I love Wharncliff blades, then an Umnumzaan because it's got one of the most beautiful blade designs I've ever seen.

Now, I'm looking forward to a raindrop damascus 25 someday. :)

When i got my first 21, I was blown away immediately. When I took it apart and reassembled for the first time, my appreciation for the knife quadrupled. When you slide the blade between the scales it seems like it will never go in. Then it does. Then you need to get the pivot pin in. It too seems like it will never go in. Then it does. Then, tighten the pivot as far as it will go.

It's hard to believe that something so tight can be so smooth. It's truly an amazing piece of engineering and function.

I've had fixed and folding knives since I was a kid (mid-sixties). No doubt there are many unique and more expensive choices available. But for me, the small micarta Insingo is the nicest every day, working class pocket knife I've ever had. Did not get a chance to handle one first. Just researched and took the plunge. When I opened the box and started inspecting the knife, I thought holy $h...
It reminds me of the old Acura commercials where they said if you drive it, you would buy it.

There's too much awesomeness in the large Sebenza's. But I have to draw a clear distinction to awesome knives and knives that I would actually carry and use in public. For me being a city and suburb person the large Sebenza was too much to carry. I ended up trading it for a small and absolutely love it!

I hate hearing this. Why do you care what other people think of the size of your knife? If they have a problem with it than that is their problem. I just hate to see people conforming to make others more comfortable. No one gives a shit about making me comfortable why should I give a shit about you?

I'm not focusing this on you its just the mind set in general.

Well, "giving a shit" about people is usually the decent thing to do.

Also for my purposes there isn't anything that I normally do with the large that I could do with the small. I don't carry it for work related reasons for example.

Yep, simple design but the build quality is perfect! Once you get one there is nothing quite like it and you will likely end up with more!

I live in a city and suburb as well and I bought a small CRK for this reason at first. But then I pulled the trigger on a large carbon fiber. At first I felt like "maybe this is too big", but after a few days I said F what other people thin, I love this, and sold my small. Different folks may feel different however and I totally respect that.

Your right, but I am of the mind that if I wan't to carry a "large" knife then I am going to. As long as i'm not waving it around acting like a idiot why should anyone ever be afraid or care what size knife I am using?

I'm stubborn I know. :D

Right there with you on the stubberness Capt. I hate when people try and tell me what I "need" or what to carry. Especially when my girlfriend tells me I don't "need" another knife. Clearly she doesn't understand the meaning of the word "need" :D
