First time handling a CRK folder

I love my CF large 21, but I must say once you try a Ball bearing pivot, it's hard to like anything else!

Isn't that the truth! Recently bought my first high end flipper with ceramic thrust bearings. A Ferrum Forge Mini Radeon. Holy smokes I'm hooked. Never knew knives could work like that. That being said, I too still love my Sebenzas and will not part with them.

I hate hearing this. Why do you care what other people think of the size of your knife? If they have a problem with it than that is their problem. I just hate to see people conforming to make others more comfortable. No one gives a shit about making me comfortable why should I give a shit about you?

I'm not focusing this on you its just the mind set in general.
Interesting take. I didn't read his post as saying he was conforming to others. I took it as he didn't have the need to carry a larger knife given his station in life/geography. I am pretty much in that camp. I have both large and small but 9/10 carry the small just because it does everything I need it to and it carries easier for me. Personally, I hate it when people tell me I need to carry the large knife. To each his own. We are all different.

Here's an example I often keep my knife or knives in my knapsack. If I have to wear a suit I don't like having my pockets weighed down.

I also happen to work near the NY Stock Exchange. About two blocks away. I have to take the NY/NJ trains and the port authority police post 9/11 are allowed to search bags if you want to take the train back home after work.

They have to perform "random" searches to make it look like they aren't profiling people like a 5'10 Asian guy would ever be a terrorist. I also have to go through metal detectors when I have to go to the Nasdaq stock exchange. On those days I leave my one handers at home and carry a small slipjoint. Even though I k ow all the security guys there. It's not like I'll need a big knife to cut the cake that they offer me with a coffee when I bring a potential client there who is looking to IPO.

But by and large my user knives have been all on the 3" blade or smaller for edc. I find it easier to carry when I go hiking. I've noticed in situations when I wished I had the large, I prefer having a fixed blade on me and will have that with me on the trail or when doing yard work.

This. The only exception to this for me is some kitchen work. I often use whatever is in my pocket in the kitchen to prep dinner and have on occasion needed a longer blade to slice something (large fruit/veg, etc). Other than that a small is more than adequate for my EDC.

This is one of those subjects that can be debated forever, and I enjoy that. If we're talking about what's more "practical" I will 100% agree that a small Sebenza is more practical. It handles all edc tasks better than well. Which is also why I bought a small as my first CRK. It's easier to carry for sure and disappears when clipped to your pocket. But if the question is "what brings you more joy carrying" I would 100% say that I enjoy the large Sebenza more.

The large is a lot of awesomeness in a knife I've never disputed that in my post!

The large was never really large to me. I can remember the first time I opened the box to my spyderco military, I thought I had accidentally ordered a folding sword. I own for the most part smaller knives, I find them just as capable as larger knives, but the larger knives I do own perform just like a smaller knife. As far as the people around me, I don't consider them when making a purchase.

The smallest knife i own is a Large 21 Tanto at 3.5", i love blades over 3.5" or so, and never found a need to buy a smaller knife. The Large carries like a smaller knife anyway, i've never owned a small Sebenza and probably never will, BUT id like to see one and handle one in person, maybe it will change my mind. For now its 3.5"-4.25" blades for me :D
my first Sebenza purchase was made on a whimb, i ordered one online, a Large 21 CF and i absolutely loved it. Now 60% of my knives are CRKs, and 9/10 times a CRK is in my pocket.

+1. Very well said.
