• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

i bought the Oregon skinner knife kit from Darrell's knifekits

the mosaic was a last minute whim. after i put the thong hole tubes down it looked a little plain so i threw in some nails and epoxy. (not sure if that was the right way to do it)

i think the kydex is pretty much fused together. Do i still need to pop some rivets down?

o yea, i know, i know i straight up ripped off the BM Activator. forgive me this once. it actually probabbly would have been cheaper to get the activator.

You did good drano ! Very nice job on the fitting of the different scale materials  Looks like it's time to move to the next level :) I see a new grinder and a few bars of steel in your near future ;) Oh , BTW , if the Kydex is "fused" from the shaping on the grinder ie.melted together , I would say yes on the rivets. If you "fused" it with an adhesive you'll probably be ok but I would still prefer at least a couple rivets

drano,

So I am not a fan of syntetic materials. That being said, no matter the choice of material, I allways appreciate good craftmanship when I see it. Very good craftmanship indeed.

Congratulations on your first job. As David said. Moove on :)

Drano,
Very nice job. I really like it. IMO that nice is too nice for the sheath you have with it.

Super clean work on the handle job. I like the different synthetics and the deco seam is a nice touch especially matched with the sheath.

Yea you should put some rivets in the sheath. Dont forget this knife and sheath will be around forever. On that note I think the next one should have more handle fasteners. Even just small pins will help hold the scales on a "real user knife"

Great first effort:thumbup: If you're like the rest of us though, putting together kits is going to make you feel "dirty" after awhile. There is a "little voice" that will start screaming from somewhere deep within, "CREATE MY SON....CREATE! Uhhhh...maybe that's just me

Although I have never done a " kit knife " , I have to admit that D.Ralph has done a pretty good job with his kits. And drano did a great job on the one he put together. Did I tell you what a nice job you did drano :) ?? Kerry made me laugh out loud with his "dirty" comment . I think drano has already moved into that realm , in fact I would bet money , looking at his work , that he is indeed washing his hands & getting the sketch pad out . Did you figure out where you're going to put your shop yet :D

Great job the knife and sheath go well together.
