Ha ha I like the idea of a tough spring, I like the snap of opening

Try one. Mine is real tough. I didn't carry it for almost a year. It's tough to open. Real tough. I've been working it, but it's still tough. I've carried a Vic Soldier (same as Wenger SI) for years, good snap, easy pull, the 73 is wayyyyyyy tougher to open. It's a bitch, but If it wasn't such a looker, nobody would have one (same for women). I love it though. Very sharp, perfect in the hand. Real nice knife if you don't mind the pull.

Is the 72 easier to open than the 73?

A lot of the GEC's have stiffer springs than other knives, but it really depends on the particular pattern. 73's may be (?) the stiffest in the whole GEC lineup. Also depends on when it was manufactured - the earlier GEC's from say 2007, 8, 9 etc. seemed to be stiffer than the more recent offerings, as a general rule.

The 72 lock back is much easier to open than the 73. Be aware that some of the 72 lock backs have a little bit of blade play (side-to-side and/or up & down) - that bothers some people. I don't think I've heard of a 73 with any blade wobble - doesn't mean it hasn't happened, just that I've not heard of it. ;)

I found some case knives for cheap but I'm not really digging on some of the design as much as GEC or Northwoods.
Is the steel in case knives any games?
