A convex edge is formed by removing the burr. Slicing across a piece of hardwood, micarta, formica, whatever non-abrasive hard surface you have access to.....will remove the burr.BruiseLeee said:Does that mean use the piece of wood to realign the burr with the edge as you would a steel?
You can also remove the burr at the buffing wheel.
Or just keep polishing at higher grits until it comes off.

You don't need to cut the wood to take the burr off.....just does it quicker....cheating, actually....
Stropping takes it right off. Remember to strop at a slightly higher angle than you sharpened at.
