Well here we go - just stripped the coating on this BKT-11, using some stripping gel, a little sandpaper and a wire brush on my bench grinder.

Then I polished it with some Mothers polish.

Right now it's stabbed into a grapefruit and we'll see what it looks like later today or tomorrow. I'll post an after picture later.

Oh no, it's a downward spiral from here. Better order a 55gal drum of Klean strip.

Yeah I was thinking that you must have missed the knife with the stripper, or just rubbed a dab of it around. LOL

Looking forward to seeing what you come out with :D

Where we at with this Colonel? We gonna have to wait until tomorrow? I am looking forward to the pics. Specifically the "after" ones.

Yeah he goes to bed at like 7:30 pm

But I bet I beat you up in the morning...always have.. except maybe when you were deployed.

It's done but I need some light to take a decent picture. Flash photography sucks - at least for me.

Hows it look. I like the grapefruit patina. Looks like marble with the green and pink hues

Well here we are:

Very interested in opinions - the photography is not great - but what do you think. This, to me, is not a subtle effect - it's pretty much in your face I think.

Looks good Colonel. Nicely done!

Looks good. If you want to darken it vinegar will make it all darker but the pattern will still be there.

I agree. That micarta really sets off the patina. Good job.

Now that I think about it, that would look awesome if you dyed the micarta a little darker!
Yeah some dark green RIT dye would look good.
