First use on deer - Buck 113

I've felt that the 113 is about perfect in most regards for use as a hunting/field dressing knife. If I were new to Bucks I'd most likely assume that it was a much less contemporary design.

I think a Kydex sheath for this knife would be a great addition. It would offer super retention, and increased carry options.

Yup, I should have checked his location before spouting off my google-fu 'wisdom'. Sorry Razor...at least you have Anne Murray and Michael Buble?
Agree with you on the all G-10, my guess is they used the brass to bring the dedicated 110 and 112 customers a little 'feels like home'...

I agree 100% that Buck is going for the 112 look. I don't have one yet. I would like to have an AG113 but I guess I'll wait and see if I can score one lightly used at a discount. I'm sure I'll have one at some point.

Another option is to order the nylon sheath from Buck and use it. I works well and is can be thrown into the washer to clean.

Out of curiosity...since this threads got me thinking.
How many versions of the 113 have been made?
I know about the 'regular' one, and the AG with s30, thought I remembered one in 154cm?, and then there was the one that got away, the BCCI special in 13c26 that didn't happen...

The B&C stag LE is very nice.

Have say I really like the grind on this knife. I do wonder why they need the brass bolsters. An all G-10 handle would reduce weight I think and still be an attractive knife especially with three 1/4 inch nickel silver pins . Just a thought for future editions.

Ecolite Paperstone.

If the issue is just weight and usability, then the small Bucklite Max is not terribly different from the 113. The grind is a bit different but it's the same length and basic shape. Of course, like all of the other Bucklites, it fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down and then it was beaten with ugly sticks by the ugly police.

I go back and forth between EDCing my classic 112 and my Ecolite 112. I'm continually impressed at how comfortable in hand the Ecolite Paperstone is and how incredibly light it is. I would love to see an Ecolite 113 and would get one in a flash.

Still, there is something about the brass and wood of the classic 112. Yes, it's heavy. But when I hold it, it does something to my heart that the Ecolite doesn't do.
