Well today was the second day of classes this week (we only go twice a week). Monday was anatomy and physiology--very interesting, I'm looking forward to learning all I can...please remind of this when I start complaining in a few months;)

Today was the first day of Swedish Massage (the foundation for all the rest we will learn more or less). A girl volunteered to be the first one to have a treatment done in front of the whole class. I was impressed. She was wearing only her underwear and lying under a sheet. The teacher was very concscious of keeping as much of her covered as possible, but there's only so much you can do. I was grateful it wasn't me up there. She set the bar high for having courage in my book.

I am very impressed with my classmates, they seem like a fine group of people. I have met some people that I know will become friends. I believe things happen for a reason and I couldn't be happier to have found this path. Thanks to all of you for all your encouragement and support!

Btw I also consider myself very fortunate to have this group of friends in the Cantina/HI Forum. I am humbled and honored by the company I am lucky enough to keep here.

I was thinking about this, Rob; a straight massuer (sic) is going to be in demand.

Sounds like a story with a happy ending:D
I'm so sorry. I couldn't help myself.

Sounds like you've got a good thing going, Rob:) It's nice to know good things happen to good guys:thumbup:

Well the Ol' ndn humor is popping up but I will keep it under control.
Naaaw, just can't bring myself to say it, maybe I'll email it to Uwinv.  ;) :D

Congrats Uwinv.

If this is Rob's chosen field of work he is going to have to get thick skin and take some kidding. He'll do OK.

That's great Rob. There was a girl at my last job that had a portable chair/table thing. I loved her. No really she made me drool without ever being sexy.

However...what Jake said.

Being a masseuse Rob will get *his share* of thick skin. :D ;)

My ex-wife's dad was a masseuse and worked around Palm Springs and that area. He worked on a lot of movie stars and singers such as Eddie Fisher and Bing Crosby. When Eddie Fisher was married to Liz he called Bill one night to come over and give Liz a massage and Bill refused. Bill's wife Helen got angry with him, said she wanted him to go so she could find out if Liz was all real or not.
Bill made a lot of money working in that area, guess it really is about location, location, location.:D

Edit:
Danielle the gal I go to for massages worked on one of the newer movie people and he flew her and her little son out to SoCal one weekend so she could work on his family and friends. Danielle said it was good money but too exhausting and she would never do it again.

many of my friends, male and female, have a really hard time with the "mundane" population and education of same that massage is theraputic, not lewd/etc. definitely and uphill battle. i appreciate their training and dedication to the healing arts. amen.

My friend at work was teasing me awhile back and I told him that I was the only guy with 25 or so young women in my class, and that for the next year I'm going to be rubbing them down with oil.

I think his comeback was something witty like:

"oh":D :p

I would have been dissapointed in you all if someone HADN'T said it!:D

And I hope to hell that's the last and ONLY thing that ever "pops up" in the course of my career:p ;) :barf: :D

Thanks bladite. I don't have any problem with teasing from friends, but I don't think that's what you were referring to. I think the link with lewdness comes from prostitutes that use massage as a front.

I am excited to be able to use this training to help people and live the lifestyle I want.

I still think massage is way less bizarre than what doctors have to do day in and day out:eek:

Certainly less intense than a decubidus (been so long I can't even spell it)
ulcer, a colostomy, sticking your hand in someone's gut fishing for a bullet....

When I was a physical therapy major I had to help debreed a decubitis, and switched majors promptly. Before, in fact, the smell had even left my nose. It literally took days.

Rob?

A friend of a friend was studying massage some time back. I was her homework assignment for a while.

I don't have the money for it anymore but I'm a firm believer in the benefits of massage therapy. It really does work, and the professionals in the field deserve the same amount of respect that other medical professionals do. This particular woman wasn't even done with her training yet, but could find injuries that were so old that I'd forgotten them. With her hands.

Pretty amazing stuff if you ask me. Best of luck to you.

Thanks Dave and Howard:)

Dave,

I have heard that said by other people before. I actually hope to be able to learn non-traditional types of energy/body work from folks I've met in the last year or so..they do some amazing things!! My goal is to be someone who helps people find their way back to their true selves, and I think part of that process can be started by freeing the "stuck places" in their bodies. I hope that they may see me as an example of someone who is happy and peaceful and then get curious as to how I got this way---that's how I met my mentor/teacher I just felt the peace and kindness coming from him, and something in me responded instantly---and once I had felt it I knew that I had to do whatever I could to get what he had. I'm still working at it, but I am happier than I've ever been and I expect things to get even better. (and before anyone starts thinking it I have NOT popped a whole bottle of anti-depressents;) ) I am med free:D

Dave?

If you have any massage schools anywhere near you you should call them up! The students need people to work on--and it would be free! Give it a try:thumbup:
