Hello everyone, my name is Justin. I just received my BK14 yesterday and I love it. Deciding between the 14 and the Izula was difficult, but I am glad I chose the 14 (more blade/less money).

I plan on taking pictures of the first week with the 14 and posting those photos here. Granted, these will not be very hard uses, but I like the idea of documenting the first week.

Enjoy!

Day 1
Less than 5 minutes out of the box I put it to work cutting cantaloupe, strawberries, and pears for my son.

Welcome and congrats on getting your 14. I have one and it's a great knife. You might want to consider getting or making some handle scales for it. It makes an already great knife that much better. It definitely made me love mine more.

Day 2
Last night I did a paracord wrap. Today I had to replace the fuel lines and filter on my weed-wacker, also snuck in a necessary tree shot. Finally, some more food preparation, potatoes.

Congrats on the 14, and welcome to the forum. Nice job on the wrap too. ;)

Stick around Justin, that 14 wrap looks good. What's next..a 2 maybe?

Gotta love the 14! I got one about 3weeks ago and it has replaced all of my folders as my edc. I just bought another one for my brother. His first fixed blade.

Are you going to strip it or leave it as is?

welcome to the forum. the 14 is a fine blade. since i got it i've been carrying mine a lot more than the 11.

That wrap-job came out great... I like the two strands cinching everything up at the bottom ring.

Welcome to the Forums too!

Wow, thank you all for the greeting, I knew I would like it here. I just didn't feel right posting here until I had a Becker. @tradewater: yes, I was thinking a 2 in due time. @rkmoore: I think I will beat on it for a bit and maybe strip it later. Thanks for the comments on the wrap, I got to the end and didn't know what to do, so I just made it up. I like it too.

Day 3
Not much use today. I cut the UPC label off of a bag of cat food for the rebate (no pictures). Went to work, but had to lecture all night. Decided to retire a pair of ABU pants. Made shorts like I always do, and cut the rest up for rags.

Late updates. I have used this knife for everything in the last week or so. Here are some final pictures.

Day 7
I carry the 14 to work everyday, unfortunately it does not cut metal like a foot shear.

I am working on a going away present for our flight chief. When completed it will be a hand formed spear head (.25" 2024 T-3) with a wood shaft. I plan to form the shaft with the 14.

This last photo was taken this morning after 2 weeks of ownership and daily use. The black coating has chipped in 4 places and shows a lot of abrasion. Once the coating is well worn I will strip and patina. Convex edge soon too. In the end, I love this knife.

First love is a glorious thing. :p Thanks for sharing!

You're gonna get a patina on the cutting edge with that fruit+potatoes. Unless of course you regularly sharpen. Shouldn't need to with such a nice steel. Might I ask if yours came with a really uneven grind in places?

I swear, everyone's first Becker these days is either a 14 or a 2, and for good reason, too.

Nice Eskabar you've got there, Jukrui. That wrap is some quality weaving, and you done good wearing the finish down in record time.
