First ZT purchase

A very large portion of knives are tip up only, especially framelocks and flippers. There are a few (mostly Spyderco) that have four way clip position. Tip down just:

A: Is not very popular, especially with "tactical" and waved knives
B: Gets in the way while trying to use the flipper
C: Depending on the design, it would get in the way of the lock release.

If tip down is absolutely necessary, your best bets are:

ZT 0350 and 561
Spyderco Military and Gayle Bradley
If a flipper is important to you, Kizer has quite a few tip down flippers.
I'd go with a 561 or military

I suggest ZT630 can be had for significantly less than the USD200 limit online brand new plus Emerson design is all (mostly?) about worst case scenario...

ZT550 here. Only thing against it is the ugly scale. Can be easily replaced with a custom scale, I did and now it is perfect :D

0560/0561 for me, I carry mine on the weekend when/if I go out...the blade is big enough that it will catch some attention, the scales are machined (both G-10 and Ti sides) so they are grippy, and the flipper acts as a nice guard to keep your hand off of the blade in a worst case scenario. That smooth, fast flipper makes for quick deployment and has the nice twack sound that makes it seem like a "switchblade"

I also like the 0452 but it is a little over your budget ($220) and the cf scale could be pretty slick when wet (sweaty, bloody, etc.)

Thanks again to everyone here. I have been looking at the 0801 and the 0560 a lot over the last few days. It may come down to one of those. There's a gun show nearby me the first weekend in June that usually has a vendor there with ZT knives for sale. I think I will wait until then to get my hands on one and see what feels good.

Please see my post! This is a great option for you. And you are local I can meet you ( if you are in NOLA). Don't go to the gun/knife show they will try to screw you.

Never said I was going to buy a knife at the show. Just looking to get a feel for a couple of different models. I think the only good deal at the gun show is the $1.00 off admission coupon that I have.
