Hello Uncle Bill

I've apparently lost a brochure of yours that had an item of interest to me. After checking your website and not finding the item there, I want to ask you about it.

Do you offer a something like a wooden fish that breaks open to reveal a knife? I'm sure I saw such a thing advertised, but now I can't find it. I never see it mentioned in any of the posts. Is it still available? What is it called? TIA for any info.

Ivy, yes, there is such a thing. I think it has a handle shaped like a tail and the scabbard it like the head/body of a fish. I seem to recall it being one of the smaller khukuris. I don't think it was/is a regular item but was more of a collector run done up awhile ago. There are forum members who own them.

Ivy Mike,

The fish khukuri, or Maccha, is a great piece. I have one. It is made from horn, not wood however. The tail is the handle and the blade is about 12" and thin like a sirupati. It has the brass inlay and scrollwork like the BAS. Very nice. Mine hangs in my living room.

Bill will have to give you details on availability.

Maccha is about 12" long OA. Blade is about 8", almost identical to that of 12" Sirupati.
As I understand it, Bill had a bunch of Macchas for a long time he couldn't hardly get rid of, and then they went almost all at once. Go figure.

Thank you everyone for the information. Looks like I need to be more attentive in the future.

I asked about Macchas a while back.I recall them from Bill`s site. They looked cutesy to me.I could be wrong.

Probably not the best choice to split firewood (mostly due to size alone) but still an excellently made knife. A great concealed weapon around the home. I love mine. JMHO

You are right, Clay. The maccha looks like a wall plaque but when you pull the tail out comes a very useable khukuri.

And you are right, too, Rusty. I had three or four laying around for a year and in a couple of weeks they all disappeared.
