How does everyone carry these? I'm looking to get one (or two?) and I wonder if anyone carries them loose in their pockets, or clipped to a shirt/trouser pocket, or...?

Also, what is the favorite model here? The Explorer model seems to fit me best, with the least amount of slippage in my fingers.

Great, another fetish. :D

Loose in pocket here.
Black matte Bullet, finish is holding up quite well, just a little marked around the lip of the outer cap so far (8 months) edc.

Ditto... exactly!

I have the Bullet, Astronaut and Explorer. I agree that the Explorer slips the least in my fingers with the Bullet coming next. The Astronaut slips so much that I don't carry it anymore and it is in my car. The Bullet is in my left front pocket and it only ever falls out when I get into the passenger side of a vehicle - must be the way that I bend my leg. The clip that you can get for the Bullet doesn't stay clipped to my pocket so I took it off. The Explorer gets clipped to a shirt pocket.

I carry a Mission Wallet with a small Sebenza and a Bullet Pen.

When I used to work for a living, I would drop one in my jacket pocket as a back-up pen, and usually ended up reaching for that one instead of the regular pens clipped to the shirt pocket. I would reach in, pop the top off, write, reach back and cap it without ever looking. When I retired and stopped wearing sports jackets or suits, it took the longest time to stop reaching for that pocket pen!

Black Matte Bullet with fixed clip. The add on clips can pop off resulting in lost pen/clip. Also carry Black matte military retractable model.
Great pens.

I splurged on the titanium coated. Had a matte black one before that.

Great pens. I often have mine in my pocket, but find around the house and at work I use my Rotring more. The Bullet's convenience is great when you're out and need a pen.

Looks like loose in the pocket is tops here. I guess I'll just have to get several and try different carry methods. ;)

Damn you all!

I like to carry the Fisher telescoping pen in my pocket. It replaced my chrome bullet pen for EDC. I like the one piece setup and the fact that the pen point retracts when the ends are pushed together which keeps it closed in the pocket.

Ditto. Have been carrying this one in my right pocket along with change and car keys for about 6 years. Not a single scratch or chip - unbelievable!

Also have the chrome version, with a tiny Challenger space shuttle on the cap, but I don't use that one.:)

Is the primary reason for your search to find a pen that carries easily in your pocket? Or to get feedback specifically on the Fisher?

If you're looking for an easy pocket carry that's not a Fisher, look into the Cross Ion. It's short, extends with a cool cam system, and if you want, it has a cap that can attach to the tip for use in carrying on a lanyard or keychain. It's a gel ink pen, and I'm not as fond of those as a standard ballpoint, but I have to say I still like mine alot.

DonL,
It's funny you mention the Ion, as I just returned home from OfficeMax with one in my pocket. Unlike you, I actually prefer the gel pens over any other type.

The Cross Ion sure carries easily in my pocket, but I have some concerns over leakage and breakage, since the pen is plastic. I guess I was mostly interested in the Fisher Bullet pen due to the seemingly strong design.

...or just cause I like gadgets. ;)

Dave, don't get me wrong, I really do like the Ion for its design and "neat-o factor" the way the cam action works, and they carry really well in the pocket due to their shape. My wife has two and loves them, wouldn't give them up.

I have to agree with you regarding the long-term durability. I saw a demo Ion at an Office Depot that was broken, but demos are usually beat on and "tested" rougher than most people would ever treat their own property. That was only one, though, and I haven't heard of scads of people breaking theirs. Over time, we'll see.

When it comes down to "bulletproof", ya gotta go with the Bullet, though. :)

I carry a Bullet in a Fisher Business Card carrier. I'll look up the site and post it Sunday. I think I got two for $70, pen/wallet combo's.

They also make bullet with a stylus tip for PDA's.

DonL,
I re-read my last post and it seemed as if I was a little snotty. I did not mean to be and I hope you didn't take it that way.

I was initially worried about the gel ink leaking into my pocket, but realized that I've been carrying pens in my uniform shirt for quite a few years without trouble, with the last several being gel ink pens. None have ever leaked, so maybe I'm concerned over nothing. Somehow I just envisioned having a large ink stain on my trousers as I walk to the stand to testify in court.

I think the real problem here is that I just like gadgets and I'll now have to also buy a Fisher bullet pen...or two. You guys are bad for me ;)

No, Dave, perish the thought. I knew what you meant and how you meant it. :)
