Fisher Bullet Pens

I have two, one chrome and one matte black. I used to carry it clipped to my shirt pocket or loose in my pants pocket. Now, I carry it everyday in my Mission Wallet.

Black bullet in T.H.E. Wallet
Chrome bullet - car ashtray
Telescoping pen - jacket

love those pens (mine *all* came from penwa)

I've been looking at these, will probably be getting one soon. Is there a model with a screw on cap? or maybe a similar brand/type/size of pen with one? Is the friction fit cap tight enough to keep it from opening? I'm assuming it is since so many people have them, but I'd still like the security of a screw on cap.

JClaude42,
If you're looking for a different style pen, while still using the Fisher ink cartridge, take a look at the Cross pen refill that Penwa sells. It works fine in my Cross pen (blue ink), but I usually have a bullet pen in my pants pocket (black ink).

The friction cap (which is sealed with a rubber o ring) has vever come off the pen in the 15 years that I've carried one. The rubber ring is touching an area at least an inch into the cap so there is quite a bit of travel for the cap to release.

I wouldn't worry about it.

I use either penwa or staples to get mine.

Usually loose in my right rear pocket, but held in a vertical position by a bandanna. Sometimes clipped in a vertical position if I know I'll be reaching for it often that day. Sometimes flat across the bottom of that pocket with bandanna resting on top of it.

And unfortunately, the damn cartridge leaked all over staining the laquer. I tried the isopropyl alcohol Cougar recommended. Thanks Cougar. But unfortunately, it only works on fresh ink. Once the ink dried, it was pretty much set. Still, from the replies, it looks like mine is an isolated incident. So much so, that I'm going to give it another try (and have my alcohol on hand, if it should leak again). I love the bullet's look.

I especially like the laquered bullet pens. Smaller than a conventional pen. I just got a bad apple in a good barrel.

I didn't remember replying on this thread, then realized that's because it is almost two years old. I do still have both pens that I mentioned above, plus the Mission Wallet.

$14 to your door ... there was even a time when they threw in two fisher ink inserts for that price as well. Tried and proven several times.

That is the link I use for telescoping pens. They are only $20!!!! I have bought about a dozen pens from them and they are great. For those new to that link . . . it is a "hidden" link. You cannot get there through the regular site and they do not answer questions about it or give those prices over the phone. It is kindof a "if you know it, use it" thing. :D :D

Black bullet with stylus and I had the medium point switched to fine when I bought it. It would be nice to have a fixed clip, but I have a slip-on(off ;) ). I too carry it loose in the pocket.

I just got in a new Rite-In-The-Rain field book, and ordered up a space pen while I was at it. I wanted something a bit larger than my usual bullet pen. I don't know if Fisher makes the Rite-In-The-Rain pen, but I'm very impressed. It writes much smoother than either of the previous Fisher pens I purchased at Staples, and with less clumping. It’s the clicky style #97 pen, and the pocket clip is built on.

Buzzbait, that black All-Weather Pen at the top of the list, above the bullets, is Fisher's Military model. They developed it specifically for armed forces reliability and ease of use in the field. All Fisher refills are all-weather, though.

Thanks for the info. Rite-In-The-Rain sure doesn't want you to know that Fisher makes their pens. Even the cartridges say Rite-In-The-Rain on them. Do you know if the Military model comes with a different tip than the Bullet? Maybe the Bullet is fine tipped, and the Military is medium? I much prefer the tip on the Military.

I'm giving a big thumbs up to the Military model!!!!
