Hey I'm just looking for a Fisher Space Pen at a local store here in Pensacola,FL and I had heard stores like Office Depot or Office Max carrys these, Anyone ever bought one from there? Wanted one of these for awhile now. Thanks!

I had one for a while. Some tool stole it. or, I was a tool and lost it?

Ive had a couple, I like the ink, but I'm a metal tip pen guy so they feel heavy to write with, so I don;t use them every day, but a nice to have. I keep one in my "urban possibles" bag, a BDU pocket orgaizer with all kinds of useful every day things.

Dont know if its the same over there, but when you buy a spacepen refil over here you get a plastic adapter that lets you fit it into any pen that takes a parker style ball point refil, so you arent limited to what pen body you use. I use one in a parker jotter

The problem with that type of pen is the tendency to leak. I gave up on them for that reason.

I have a couple of the TAD versions and the Millitary that I picked up at REI. Slick little numbers that do everything they were made to do. I still keep a couple of Bics around just cause I like them but I always have a Fisher on hand as well. Never looked at Staples, guess I'll make a run over there today just to check'em out.

I use one everyday, all day and really like it. I've not had any leaking problems in years. I keep an Explorer model with my Fatboy and my wife keeps one in her
handbag.

I got a little bullet version of one. It's a neat little pen, but I never cared for it. Doesn't write very smooth, and it's a little on the heavy size for something so small. Most of the time, I just use a Lamy Safari with medium nib and whatever ink I have available.

I have the "Military" version of the Fisher space pen. All that means is it's about $12 and covered in a black crackle finish. Very utilitarian. Never had mine leak on me though.

I've EDCed some form of the Bullet Space Pens for probably about 10 years now, and have never had one leak. My current one is whatever one I haven't lost. :o

Office Depot does stock them and at a decent price. There was an OD that closed down here a few years back to make way for a new interstate on-ramp, so I cleaned them out of their Space Pen (and Sharpie) stock. Like Josh, my favorite one is probably the black coated one. I think you will only find the chrome and other shiny colors in the office supply stores.

Staples carries them in Columbus, Ohio too.

I've never had one leak either.

FWIW, the refills also fit the UK-made Parker Jotter, which makes a nice shirt pocket pen.

They are nice pens when they don't leak. I had a bullet one in my pocket when the pressurized ink cartridge decided to depressurize in my pocket never bought another one.

There is a lot more choice by ordering directly from the website, although shipping costs can add up.

The bullet pens all ship with the medium point refill. I always order additonal fine refils and toss the mediums.

I find that the fine ones write better for me, with a finer line and less tendency to be blotchy.

The ability to put the refills in a parker Jotter is very nice, but I always carry a space pen in my back pocket.

I have never had a leak in 15 years. In fact an exploded cheapie caused me to switch.

Consider also the Sharpie that has the fine point on one end (which is not so fine) and an extra-fine tip on the other end. Good combo, and good for EDC. Comes in mighty handy. I have stayed away from the Space Pen because some folks say the ink is goopy.

I used to keep one of the bullet pens in my back pack untill it popped on a flight
over to Thailand and pretty much covered the whole inside of my pack and a nice
jacket in ink. I stopped using them after that and won't be buying any more either.

The superb space pens that can't even handle a standard flight :p

It might be explainable if it was in a checked bag on a plane without a pressurized cargo hold. Although, afaik, almost all planes have pressurized holds.

It was in my hand lugage, I was actually a little surprised as it took the lid off as well.
It must have just been a duff cartage or something. Still a bit of a PITA though.
