Fishing before class

So this morning was nice and sunny and I didn't have class until one, so I decided to run out to the lake before school and see what I could catch. I threw the boat in the back of the truck and grabbed what I thought was all my gear and rolled out. Its 10:30 by the time I get on the water and about 30 seconds after the first cast I had a fish on. Unfortunatly for me he wrapped himself around a submerged log and forced me to pull anchor and row over to where he is at. To my dismay i have to break my line :( 20 mins later I have another trout on the line then I figure out I forgot my net so I have to try and flip my fish into the boat. No such luck as he slaps into the side and unhooks himself. At this point I am not super excited. Finally about 15 mins before I need to leave I get one last bite and with a perfected flip (thanks to the poorly executed first attempt) I land this one.

and with help of my 11 I had a tasty dinner:)

I haven't in like 20 years, I'm not to big on river fishing. There is too many people on the rivers for me

I know what you mean.
I dont like fishing too close(elbow to elbow) to others.
Combat fishing. It sucks.
I'd rather chill out on the Lake myself.
I'm going sturgeon fishing on the 16th out on the Columbia.
My buddies Dad is a guide. I'm really looking forward to it.
Never caught a sturgeon before. Hopefully I hook into one of those 10 footers!

Sweet. Not a bad way to spend the day...and a tasty meal as a bonus! SCORE!

Did you do something to your 11? The tip profile looks...pointier. Sorry if you've made a thread on it before I must have missed it. Hope that fish was good eats!

Very cool bro, I got me a few trout today....

Been I while since I been on the Green River also, but we have tons of small rivers around here full of Brown Trout.
Just got a new spining reel yesterday, I love the damn thing already LOL

PICS?

Awsome, where did you pick up those scales? I've been considering a BK-11 (1st Becker) and like the look of your set-up.

Also, there is still some non combat fishing left in western WA - at least there was 5 or so years ago...

I had plans of making it a baby clip point, but they failed so i filed it back flat. the good news is that it is a lot more stabby now

I bought some thin oak from the local hardware store along with some steel rivets. Drilled out the wood and smashed the rivets down with with a ball peen then varnished the crap out of it

What a nice morning! I remember fishing before class when I was young. Except once I had a line out, time stopped and I never made it to class! It's still like that. I must be diligent in my morning fishing escapades, else they turn into morning, day, and evening excursions.

The temperature dropped out here in SE Michigan this week. 97 Monday, 47 last night. Bass don't like it when it gets cold like that all of a sudden. What it means to me is no fishing right now. And I'm wigging out.

Great post. And I'm diggin' those scales. :)

Nice catch. Next time, let's see that 11 doing its duty!

nice. here's one of mine from yesterday. it's a terrible pic b/c i kept him in the water so i could let him go. C&R today, not fishing for dinner.

but he was a beefcake. 20 is a biggun at Amber Lake, he was pushing 23. good day in spite of the wind and the rain. of course, that's pretty much always true when i'm fishing.
