I just finished this knife. It is forged from 1095. Took about 30 minutes to make it.Took a day to glue up and finish the handle. The idea came out of me sketching a shark for another project. I noticed the basic shape was knife like, and I thought" I wonder", so I went out to the shop to try the design.
It has a scaler, the 'mouth' is a gutter, the blade is tough enough to chop off heads - but very sharp for filleting and dressing. There was one after thought - the bottle opener in the tail. The handle is redwood burl. There is a closeup of the handle in the thread, "Handling Cherry Root Burl".
I am going to make a batch of these in CPM154. For fishing user knives I'll probably use brown Tex-tuff (G-10) for the handles. I am not one who names knives, but I call this one, "The Shark".
