Fishing Method Question

First, I hope everyone is alright from all the horrible tornadoes!

Second, a person once related to me an unusual fishing method. He had an old hand crank phone from the farm. Instead of throwing it away, he extended the output wires. These wires were submerged under the surface of a creek. Then he would crank to create a current.

He stated that it shocked any living thing between these electrodes. Fish would start surfacing. And they would float there long enough for him to net or grab them. I find this hard to believe. I have to admit I have never heard of such a thing.

Now here's the kicker. With all the hand crank LED lights and hand crank Radios that are in production these days, would these have enough current production to be used in this 'fishing' method? I see these small LED lights that are pretty small and compact. Sure begs the question, should I keep some wire and hand crank light in my PSK?

Thanks for any feedback in advance.

Crank phones are used for torture, so sure I'll believe you can 'fish' with them. I would highly, highly doubt however that the dynamo from a crank LED light will do the same.

I am not sure how much current an old field phone puts out but its a LOT.

I dont think the little power miser units of today would even be close.

Cool idea for fishing though.

Just use your cell phone to call these guys

notice the electro shock dealie on his back.

Probably would work. Actually an interesting concept for survival situation. Illegal for non-survival situation.

I know for a fact that the old army radio has a crank for power supply that you can sit on.... As CanDo said they were found in some torture room. They also make enough AMPS to killl the fish. Can make grown man cry if you hook them up right.

Google - Fish Stunner

They are pretty neat, I've used one before. The hand flashlights and the like would not have the capacity to get any fish. The one I used was a hand crank field radio, it produced about 5 amps. Wouldnt work that well in this situation, it weighed about 50-70lbs.
