I am a bass fisherman at heart, but love all types of fishing. However, I get bored with live bait. I much prefer using artficials lures and working the bait to get the fish to bite. Sitting around with live bait in the water catches fish, but I would rather stay busy and catch my fish with skill:p

What about you guys or girls. What type of fishing do you enjoy the most?

I am learning to fly fish. I'm a slow learner but it is a blast.
When home, I have a river with steelhead and salmon out my front door and we use artificial lures for them. Down the road at the pond we use worms for rainbows.

Fly fishing would be fun to learn, but I have so much money invested in my gear already, and fly fishing is even more expensive..

I spent some time watching this guy fly fishing for Tarpon last week. The guy landed an estimated 100# Tarpon! Took him 32 minutes. We got to talking and his rod and real combo cost over $1000.

Artificial lures is where it's at. Flies, spinners, spinner baits, jigs, plastics, etc. No matter what I'm fishing for I always prefer artificial. However, if I have to suck it up and use live or frozen bait I will. Like when surf casting. I'd rather deal with it than not fish. I went fly fishing once in CO a couple of years ago. It was awesome but much different than what I'm used to. I sent a poor little four inch brook trout sailing about forty feet over my shoulder. :o

I love lure fishing, both fresh and salt water.

I got lucky and caught an octopus on a metal wedge!

Fly fishing for trout is my favorite. But a close second is ice fishing. I like all kinds of fishing too though. If there's water with fish in it, I'll try to catch them somehow.

And Tony, remember, when the chips are down........nothing outfishes live bait. :p

I like it all. Salt, Fresh, Artificial, Live,Bow,Jug Lines, Limb Lines, Gig even been know to drop a fish basket or two. They all have there place and drawbacks. But I wind up having a blast doing any of the above just like being on the water.

Hopefully this summer me and my dad will get out and do some flyfishing (I'm really bad at it! :D).

I'm sure most of you will agree but getting out with loved ones and doing some fishing is brilliant.

Here's my dad.

One of my nephews fishing for sea bass, notice the Sluggo lure!

I also like using my ultra light spinning rod and casting a piece of bread and no float or with maggots and some very small split shot weights.

Another chub on bread, they scrap hard on a ultra light gear.

Match the hatch! I caught a pike on that lure only ten minutes after taking the picture.

I think this is my best catch...

Baby one minus lures. Just skim under the surface and watch the bass attack it. I also have some similar shaped lures that go 2'-3' deep and catch bass, crappie, and bluegill all on the same lure. I've even caught a muskie on top water version as well as a redfish.

After working a lure, sitting around waiting for a bobber just doesn't do it anymore.

I fish all kinds of baits... Live and artificial. Depends on the conditions and what fish I'm specifically targeting at the time. I tend also to be a bit more aggressive with live bait (Especially with catfish) and move around quite a bit to try to find the spot they're biting best. And just so you know, northern pike like cutbait too. Spring bass around here seem to like minnows more than any artificial. And I have caught many massive bass on a plain hook and nightcrawler... then again, my biggest bass ever (over 7 lbs) came on a spinnerbait.

Been learning to flyfish lately as well, although I'm not really a huge fan of it yet.

I love bass fishing also. I had success fishing tournaments. Here in Missouri bass fishing in resrvoirs is so popular that fishing success is suffering.I sold the bass boat and now own a canoe and two man bass boat. I frequent rivers and smaller bodies of water that the big boats cant use. Catfishing is great too. On a good bite there is no nsitting around waiting .

I love fishing for trout on rivers and creeks. My grandpa taught me on the little creek behind his house. I fish with spinners and such a lot, but love just using a bobber and either nightcrawlers or peeling periwinkles for bait.

I'am a bush beater, like to stay on the move and do alot of casting....

Fly fishing with low weight setups.

4 weight and under are a ton of fun bigger trout or bas.

I also enjoy tuna fishing off California coast, as well as kayiak fishing in seabeds.

....And I also love fly fishing for perch off the beach. :)

i like to fly fish on creeks and small lakes. a 5 weight for smaller trout(brook trout are my favorite, tastier then rainbows and they fight alot harder). if i go to a river i have an old 7weight that is alot of fun. niether of these rods would be considered expensive, though i do spend a bit more on my reels.

Tony....it has been 2 whole years since i hit the water...soo at this point ill take any kinda fishing...whether it be blue gill fishing w/ my son w/ earthworms...crappie fishing w/ minnows or jigs...or bass fishing w/ artificials...i NEED to get out this year...GONNNA

I DO prefer artificial tho....

I do everything I can except fly fishing. Just bought a boat so I expect to be doing alot more fishing real soon. YIPEEEEE!!

I have been fishing for 43 years now ( since I was 7), and for most of it used only live bait or bread/dough. I have used lures for about 6 years now too, and have had alot of sucess, but the live bait is always a winner for me. I live on Long Island in NY, and only freshwater fish. There is alot of catch and release ( most of what I do too), so the fish seem to have learned what lures are and don't bite them too agressively. The live bait usally works on fish that have been caught a few times before as long as you hide the hook and use clear line. I have seen a fish not even follow three differnt lures , than grab a live worm, and they always have scarring from past hookings...

Artificials for bass, be they LMB, SMB or Striped :D
Bluefish as well.

I'm not a passive fisher.
I run and gun for biters only slowing down if I have to.
I think, nowadays, they call it powerfishing
