I had been looking for the last three years for a Sendero for under $1,000 to try for myself as a hunter/user. With the way Fisks have skyrocketed in value, at times I thought it was not going to happen, but I recently found this one and it fills the bill perfectly. I was delighted to discover that it is very light weight—just over 3 ounces—with perfect balance, and the sheephorn handle is wonderfully comfortable in hand in all positions. The blade grind is to a very thin edge for a super cutter/slicer. But after handling it for a couple of weeks and comparing it to my other knives, I realized it is an overlap in size with my large folders. Rather than use it, I’ve decided to move it along to let someone else enjoy, since hunting season is just around the corner.

This knife is unused as far as I can tell, but it has two cosmetic issues which are reflected in the price. First, there is some minor shrinkage in the sheep horn scales, evidenced by a very slight gap between the scales and the guard (see photos below). You can also just feel the rims of the pins, which have emerged slightly above the surface of the horn. There are no gaps between the slabs of the sheep horn—the joint between the slabs is flush and remarkably perfect, even for a brand new knife and this one is probably 15 years old. I would think a good soaking in mineral oil would mitigate this very minor shrinkage, but have not tried it as nothing about the knife’s function is affected in the least. The second issue is a short scratch across the top right of the guard, which is deep enough to stop a fingernail moving across it but does not noticeably mar the looks of the knife to my eye (see last photo below)

Blade length: 4 1/16"
Overall length: 8 3/16"
Blade thickness: Just over 1/8" at the ricasso/spine with distal taper and unsharpened swedge
Blade steel: Unknown. The vendor I purchased this knife from did not know the blade steel, but from that era there’s a good chance it is 1084 or 5160. There is a very faint “working” hamon, confirming the differential heat treat.

I’m pricing this knife to sell at $850 including insured Priority shipping within the US, postal money order or a personal check if I know you. No Paypal. I'm not looking for trades but would consider mid-to-large size Busses especially in Res-C--please let me know what you have by pm or email and we can discuss it, thanks.

The knife ships in a zippered case, no sheath.
