YES m-43 is mine thanks yangdu

Sweet! I have a Tarwar coming to me!! I gave my wife my best puppy dog eyes and begged for it as my upcoming birthday present. She didn't give me any grief at all!!!
:D

Yesterday I complained as I thought I had received a "raw deal". At the time, and from my point of view it did seem that way. However, with the explanation(s) from the many forums members and another gracious offer from Yangdu, I know that I was wrong. I would like to offer my apologies to Yangdu, and the other forum member for seeming like a hothead, which I am not (I think?). Thank-you for setting me straight!

Funny, 9.42 this morning I was asking about a TARWAR, Yangdu says, "Greetings,

I do have AK Bowie and Tarwar in stock.
AK Bowie is perfect and the Tarwar handle developed a crack and if you are interested in Tarwar I will sell it for reduced price.
AK bowie is $175 and Tarwar is $125
combine shipping cost within US is $25
International shipping cost is $55"

SO I asked for pics..... went to work....... I came home looked at the pics, and replied. I'll take the TARWAR!, how do we proceed?

Then @ 9:36 pm I get an e-mail from Yangdu, which stated, "I post the pix and details on the blade forum and someone already claimed the Tarwar."

WHAT? I call bullshit on this one. Looks like that will be my last purchase from HI.

Terrible service!

Tell me, how is Yangdu supposed to know you went to work and would respond later?
You were there and requested pics, so one would assume that you would respond with an answer forthwith if you were interested.
Your own lack of communication is not her fault, nor is she required to hold an item without a request to do so or payment.

Issue resolved! As many of you stated Yangdu has offer me another solution, providing excellent great customer service!

I asked for pics stating that I was VERY interested in buying the TARWAR, she said she was busy and would send them later. I replied to her no worries and would look at them after work. She WAS informed I was interested in the blade early this morning. Infact, I would have purchased it on the spot this MORNING before going to work, but, it was a blem so I wanted to see it. This seems reasonable to me. While I was a work (many hours later), she posted it for sale, and it sold!
As I said bullshit! IF you think that is good service, good for you.

Chemosh:

Since you seem rather ill-mannered, I'll dispense with the usual tactful language.

1. Your being "interested" did not elevate you to some exalted status. Not even "VERY interested." We are all very interested in Yangdu's blades.

2. When you ask to see pictures, that is not a commitment to buy, so you shouldn't have expected Yangdu to reserve the knife for you, or to defer to your work schedule.

3. If you knew more about HI or this forum you would know that certain models of knives or swords come up less frequently than others and therefore tend to sell quickly (sometimes within minutes of being posted). Tarwars are among them, especially one made by Rajkumar, who has a stellar reputation here. Yangdu knows this even if you don't, so there was no reason why she should wait for you to make up your mind "many hours later" as you put it. If you were out of communication while at work, that's too bad. Join the club.

4. I suggest that instead of throwing around epithets like "terrible service!" and "bullshit," you treat this as a learning experience: (a) The earth continues to rotate even when you are at work, and (b) You have to be quick on the draw to get one of Yangdu's deals, because if you are slow someone else will beat you to it.

Well, considering that the Tarwar sat unclaimed for 1.5 hours until I saw it and claimed it, I think its safe to say that other people had a chance to get it before me. Terrible service and Yangdu don't really fit together. She's always polite. She always ships promptly. She bends over backwards to make sure people get the best products possible, and sometimes she even takes a loss to ensure we are happy.

I'd say the only bullshit here is your claim of rights to a blade that you didn't commit to buying. Why should she not sell it to someone that sent payment information while you thought it over?

I am very happy that I got the Tarwar. I will cherish it and it will become a family heirloom. (hopefully the baby we're going to have this summer likes swords!!)

In no sales forum on Bladeforums does a request for information take precedence over "I'll take it!"

Chemosh, if this was a normal business, your claim might have merit. But HI is not a normal business. This is very much a one-off group of people who like the blades that come out of Nepal, and over time have developed a very peculiar method of distribution and sales. There is a protocol to buying these knives that is like no other. It's not an auction, but there are auction-like attributes to the process. Speed very much plays a part. You have to enjoy the uncertainty, almost like a gamble, to trying to buy something here or you won't be happy. And, as you have seen, if you offend the players by displaying your displeasure with anything you can expect fast and furious rebuke! This group takes all this very seriously!

Or, you know, like sending Yangdu a courteous email stating that you feel a bit slighted because you were under the impression that you were in negotiations with her for the blade. She may very well have cut you a deal on a non-blemmed sword as, believe it or not, Yangdu IS human and CAN make mistakes. She does the shipping, the packing, takes the orders, keeps track of what is going on in Nepal, and posts the DotD for us.

Cut her some slack. Calling her service BS on a public forum is bad form, and I don't think I would do you any favors if I were her. Then again, I'm kind of a butthead like that. She's a much more forgiving person regarding rudeness than I am:)

Yesterday I received my first HI blade. I had called Yangdu to arrange payment. Being on the East Coat I was not immediately aware of how early I was actually calling her. I would not have called that early if I had realized this fact.

She never mentioned it and was extremely helpful, courteous and friendly. Answered all my questions and gave me what I feel is some of the best customer service I have ever received. Let me repeat, some of the best customer service I've ever received.

The item arrived quickly and in the condition described.

I only want to say this because the claim that her service is "terrible" is ridiculous. Completely contrary to the service I received. It was a true pleasure and I will no doubt be doing business with her again.

Thanks Yangdu!
