Five Card Stud: Jacks Are Better!

Alan had a flush before me.o_O As did Jeff!!

Such a fun thread! My hand...er...pile is too wee to play, but it’s great to watch the masters.

Keep posting!

I'd seriously use that one! I like everything about it.

ETA: I'm not even playing with a regulation deck! At least 2 of the knives I posted below are not even jackknives, as Jeff specified.

EC Simmons Keen Kutter (pre-1940, right?):

Landers, Frary, & Clark (I read that they discontinued their cutlery division in 1950, so this knife should meet Jeff's time requirement):

Imperial MOTS (1936-1952 tang stamp):

OK, now I have to draw TWO knives to fill the "inside" of a straight (not a play I'd usually make).

Kingston cattle knife (I have a 1947 catalog clip that shows this model K-320, but I've read that Kingston Cutlery was formed in 1943 but started fading in the late-1950s. This thread by @Codger_64 does NOT list K-320 as appearing in Schrade/Ulster/Kingston records for 1959. But was my knife made prior to 1955?? I don't think I have any way to know.)

Case XX two-blade congress (Similarly, the tang stamp for this knife was used 1940-1964, so my knife may be pre-1955 or it may be newer than that. Who knows??)

So, Jeff, I'd probably have to say I'm busted going for an inside straight! :(

Threads like this and the ABC one are good, give us guys without a huge pile of knives a chance to recycle some of ours under a different context. Here is a straight, all easy openers as well. Pal Blade Co, Camillus, NYK Hammer Brand, Robeson and a Remington.RIMG1831.JPG

Great hands, Dan and Duncan! Dan, your first hand is a straight flush, with 5 different brands (straight) and 5 bone handles (flush).
The Keen Kutter English Jack is killer.

I've been aged out of the game! I think the oldest I have is an Camillus all steel USN knife from 1968. I am digging the molasses in the initial post.

Five great Cut Co's, Augie!
Nice hand of Camillus, for a through together, Duncan! Plus three other very good hands! Third hand, second knife down, the dog bone? jack intriques me. I can't make out the maker, or brand. It is unique!
Thanks for the kind comments Duncan and Jeff. I also have to apologise, just realized that my second hand, the HSBs, might not fully meet the age requirement you specified for this thread
