The DBK boys came out with what I thought was an interesting video a few days ago.

It’s a hypothetical about which five fixed-blade knives they would keep from their collection to cover all uses (kitchen, crafting, woods, hunting/fishing, SD, etc…) for the rest of their lives.

I think it would also be interesting to see how you folks would answer that question. Please feel free to elaborate about your choices or just post a pic/list. Please DO tell us the names of the knives in any pictures.

Just for the sake of this thread let’s say that kamisori and other fixed-blade straight razors don’t count as “knives”, but machetes DO count as knives. Also that if any of these knives are significantly damaged, lost or thickened via sharpening, they will be replaced with another that’s the same/similar.

You can still have all the saws/axes/folders you want.

Bonus points if all of your “forever knives” are in your current collection and you can convince them to pose together for a family photo. ⭐

These are my choices:
1) Bill Siegle “Chopper/Fighter”
2) Busse Dirt Dart Steel Heart
3) Maximiliano Pesci “Hunter”
4) Scrap Yard WS 10/20
5) Swamp Rat Mega Swap Warden

What are yours?

Easy choice for me. And yes, 2 are not fixed. Only own 3 fixed blades.
1. Boye Basic 3 Dendritic Cobalt. Due to being impervious to the elements anywhere in the world.
2. Cold Steel SR1. Good beater folder.
3. Spyderco Endura with wave attachment. Good for pocket cary in city and opens quick.
4. Cold Steel Recon Tanto San Mai. No particular reason. I just like it.
5. Rockstead Chou neck knife. Stylish yet functional.
If I had to choose one above the entire list of the 5 knives I would keep.
I would pick a Marbles or south American machete.z
Since a Machete could do everything any of my 5 knives could do. And is a better tool and also a weapon in self defense.
Or bushcrafting.
Just my thoughts.

All mine, but family photo only possible in a couple of weeks.

Including kitchen in the question makes it tricky :)

Using the 5 basic parameters of general purpose bushcraft belt knife, small edc / bling knife, kitchen knife, beater/carving knife and chopper/baton knife, no folders and assuming an axe is present but not part of the 5.......
