Well, I've finally done it. The boy is becoming a pyromaniac like his old man...(check his face)

I was shooting some pictures outside and he found the box of Strike Anywhere Matches near the grill and promptly lit about half the box.

We quickly covered the rules including "No lighting matches in the house" and I think he'll be okay.

He's already into my knives and now I'm going to have to take inventory of my firestarting boxes and kits to make sure he doesn't lighten my load...

LOL!

Uh oh. Don't let him get too interested. Fire is good, just not when you are that young :D

Just make sure he knows "NEVER" touch matches unless you are there with him

Good looking boy!!!

(and the photo is priceless!!!)

classic expression! i think this is similar to my own when opening up a shipping box that contains a new knife purchase... :D

No worries Doc. The boy's got no shortage of supervision and he's well aware of the risks of playing with matches and other tools.

I've had enough injuries over the years to show him what happens when even an experienced person gets tired and/or careless. He knows that knives can cut, fire can burn, and axes can remove parts. My pain, his gain... :)

The kid's going to be one heck of a Cub Scout next year...

Thanks,

B

Why the Strike Anywhere matches have striker on the box ? :D :D :D
Couldn't you just strike them... ANYWHERE :D :D :D

Hey, the side of the box is part of "Anywhere" isn't it? :D

Nah, he's not getting burned. The wind was so strong yesterday that the matches would flare up and immediately go out. We picked up a bundle of them and they were all burned heads with fully intact sticks.

LOL! The expression must be universal eh Chris? :D

Mike, he's got a Sparkie and thinks he owns anything and everything in the knife box...He has laid claim to my NWA Stinger but we'll have to discuss that some more.

Nice! You've got it right. When the kid's ready for experimenting, turn it into a learning experience and teach him responsibility. It shows him you trust him too. You're going to have a great time with him. Enjoy!

I agree with Lazydog1. In school we call them "teachable moments." The message hits home when you are in the middle of a memorable experience. Thank you for not pulling the knee-jerk/zero tolerance reaction that so many people do today. Your focus on responsibility and rules is important. Once a kid knows where the boundaries are, they deal with these kinds of temptations much better.

So when is he gonna start posting here, haha with kids now a days he should be ready for his own Screen Name here. hahaha

Now all he needs is a knife:D Great photo Brian:thumbup: I think that is great he is into that stuff too. Most kids now days just want to play with computer games..

Nick:)
