While cleaning out my Dads apartment recently, had to move him to a nursing home I found an old Schrade 33ot I had given him many years ago as a gift. My Dad was a plumber and his pocket knife was a tool to get the job done and the clip blade is broken off just ahead of tang. The pen blade is sharpened down to a toothpick.
I would love to have the clip blade replaced so I can use the knife. I want to leave everything else as is for sentimental reasons. the skinny pen blade and patina were earned the hard way by the hardest working man I've ever known.
Just thought it would be cool to carry my Dads knife.
Any recommendations?
Thanks in advance for your help

It is possible to do what you are asking, but the construction of these knives does make things difficult. Old Timer knives were assembled using the swinden construction method...basically, the knife blade and some spring parts were put together as an assembly, pinned togther with rivet-like knobs on the outside. The covers/liner/bolsters were also one piece, and the bolsters had a keyhole-like opening which the assembly fit into. The tension created by the pinned spring at the center holds everything in place.

The only way to utilize the remaining blades would be to take the assembly apart, and then do a through-bolster pin at each end. It is somewhat labor intensive, but it will maintain the honest age and use on the saved parts.

I may be able to help you out. If you would like to discuss further, email me.
