A few days ago the spring in the latch on my 440C (original run) Spyderfly lost tension and now the spring latch doesn't spring. I can't make sense of how it works. Anyone have any tips on how to fix it and get it working again?

Couple coils on each side of the latch, that ride on the latch screw. The coils are connected by a U shaped section that goes over the "arm" of the latch and each has a short, straight, tail that bears against the handle. Not sure what the one from a SmallFly looks like, but the one from a (current production) Szabofly, while a bit different, (narrower U) might work. If you're a "qualified" buyer or have a friend who is you might try ordering one of those.

Don't ask how I know any of this.

Thanks, Deacon. On the balisong forum they linked me to a macro picture of the latch and I can see that the "legs" on my spring snapped off. I will have to try bending the spring and see if I can make a leg to give it some tension again. Wish me luck!
