Not sure where the OP is, but no it's not an auto or spring assist action. This version of the amphibian is an adaptation of Benchmade's axis lock - uses a coil spring instead of BM's omega spring.

Thanks for the information. I just realized that, to my chagrin, a few minutes ago. I will drop my claim on the Amphibian and hopefully pass it to the next in line.
