So inquiring minds want to know! I'm working on a little project right now that would solve the above problem, but I want to know how YOU guys cope with it! We know the best place for a fixed blade is on your belt where it's readily accessible...except when your belt is under your outerwear! :foot: This goes for small fixed blades all the way up to big choppers--what's your solution?

Other. I don't use a knife enough to do anything special with it as far as carry while wearing a coat. It's just on the belt that's on my pants like always.

Winter time I usually always wear a many pocketed (tactical)vest so I don't have to go through a lot of trouble to get anything knife, wallet, keys etc.

if I'm wearing a pack, it's on a kidney pad or a shoulder strap. if I'm not, which is not very typical, it's usually scout carried at nape-of-back on my belt.

I voted other because most of the time I am wearing a jacket I throw my Izzy in my coat pocket, same with my 4. If I need to and have a pack on me at the time the 4 will go there and the Izzy stays on my person. I also wear it as a neck knife though.

I do carry in a coat pocket sometimes, but my Izzy is usually in my pants pocket.

With or without a jacket, it's horizontal @ 3 o'clock on my belt like always.

This is an issue that I struggle with all winter. I can never make up my mind what is the best for me. I've tried all that you list above plus a let mounted molle setup. I'm interested in seeing if any new ideas pop up here that would be my answer to this problem.

Not to nitpick, but the "nape" of your back? :p

+1 on scout carry, however, it doesn't work out for me as well during the colder months. Usually it's strapped to a pack as well, or stuffed in a pocket (most of my woods-blades will fit in a pocket no worries. Well, maybe not the ESEE-5 haha)

its on my "gunbelt" even though i dont carry a gun.

being as im back home in hawaii i can carry it however i want 365 :)

I voted other, a jacket makes no difference to me in how I carry, it stays in the same spot all the time regardless of what I'm wearing, blah blah muscle memory and all that stuff

Depends on the jacket but where I live you always have to keep your blade concealed. It could be either in my pocket or iwb i've been switching up the blade I carry between a hest & 3-mil & think i'm ordering an izzy next

I'm up in Westchester county. New York sure doesn't like knives very much. Hell, down towards you and the rest of the city must be even worse..

yea it is & I only carry a blade to & from work & I keep a copy of NYC knife laws & regulations in my wallet

I just belt it under my parka. That or my chest pocket

I always neck carry my Izula and it's easily accessible with one hand by retrieving the sheath out through my collar no matter how many layers I'm wearing. Most of the time I use a folder but when the Izula does come out, most people are a little shocked at how quick I can get it out and the fact that I had a neck knife on in the first place. :)

This doesn't really apply to larger fixed blades though as you well know.

smaller knives go in a pocket.
Larger ones go on a baldric.
unless I'm carrying my murse - then they go in one of the external pockets in it.

always have a knife in my front right pocket.
the coat has a black izzy in the right arm pocket.
