Hello gentlemen (and ladies),

I'm new to these here forums, so please be gentle.

I'm looking for an attractive edc fixed blade. Preferably something with maple burl scales or similar, drop point, and no bolster. I like carbon steel ( I edc an izula II or a bhk trapper), but am not opposed to a good stainless either. I would like the blade to be less than 3 to 4 inches long. I also like a generous handle, the izula II is just about perfect on the handle length. I don't like thick or heavy knives or anything tactical looking.

Price range is 150 or less. Made in usa, canada or Japan please.

Thanks for suggestions, and sorry if the post is a bit scatter brained. Sleep deprived, the baby is keepin me up tonight.

Watch in custom knifemaker fixed section for Jarrett Fleming, Bradshawblades, Big Chris, and some other makers.

Ty. I just saw a jarret flemming in the new edc thread. He makes some sexy knives!

Spyderco Fred Perrin Street Beat with a VG-10 steel blade that's 3.5" long and 0.156" thick. The handle is Micarta and it weighs just 3.2 ounces. You can get them for under $150 brand new.

Oh that's nice too. I was hoping for a wood handle, but I'm tempted by this one. I don't have any spyderco fixed blades.

Is there a name for the finger rest right before the blade?

I too would check the makers forum. In the size you are looking for there are lots of choices. Mine is a JK Knives EWOK. I'll bet he has some maple burl for the handle too.

JK Toby's Knife in Ironwood on O1 with Alu pins in a KSF Hunter pocket sheath. Reground edge to 24 degrees @ 500 with a Shapton GS and a SharpMaker Fine @ 30 degree micro bevel. The thing with the lanyard in the other pocket is a custom SAK by Syph007.

You might also check Alan Davis' work here on BF for a custom, or look at some smaller Bark Rivers for a production FB.

+ 1 for a custom bu if you want to go production, you could get a ka bar Becker bk14 or bk16 and put tommythewho maple burl scales on it. And that would leave you plenty money for a custom sheath too.

OP, how do you plan to carry this EDC fixed blade? That will determine the best recommendation. I do not work in an environment where I could open-carry a fixed blade on a belt sheath. So I have to have a very small knife in a pocket sheath. But if you can open-carry, that widens the options dramatically.

The pocket friendly E Jönsson Mora-knife.

Extremely sharp 2,8" all purpose/hunting/fishing scandi ground fixed blade, SS 1778 carbon spring steel, ashwood handle, closed light brown leather sheath with a pop button fastener

Oh wow, so many gorgeous suggestions. I love the ewok, Toby's knife and the lionsteel.

As for carry, I'm in the trades, carrying a knife is almost expected. I keep it on my belt or on my tool pouch, or clipped on my deep carhaart pocket. So long as the blade doesn't look like a weapon no one says anything.

Edit:
I also edc a esee izula II clipped iwb or clipped To cargo pocket

The Hiking Buddy runs more than the $150 budget though.

Both look like great users. I think I'm going to have to try a jk or Davis knife. They look top notch,as well as high value for price.

BRKT Little Creek. I EDC one in CPM 154 w/swedge grind and its awesome. Think I paid $149 from KSF.

You won't be disappointed in a JK, what ever model you choose.
