Fixed blade EDC

I EDC a becker necker. I love the knife and i think its a great cheap EDC fixed blade. Since camillus went out of business they might be harder to find though. There are still some on-line. A friend of mine wanted a small fixed blade and was going to buy the becker necker but it was sold out in most places. He ended up buying a RAT 3.

I have been pocket-carrying a Bark River Mini Canadian for a few months now in an A.G. Russell hip pocket sheath. It is the best quality knife I have in any size, comfortable to hold, friendly looking, and tougher than its size suggests. My folders never get any pocket time anymore.

Fallkniven WM1 is a lovely knife, easy to carry, only it also called "ladies knife"... I have one. A very good edc fixed blade.

It's mountaineer 1 in my pocket right now. It is a great edc, but a little higher than $100... , maybe you can take a look at secondhand knife.:)

Three other knives you may wish to consider (as if you needed MORE options) would be:

The Nying made by Helle cutlery

The Mora by Frosts of Sweden

OR

The Spyderco Moran (either variety).

Nice knives, and WELL below your price. Good luck and let us know what you get!

Well, one pot luck dinner I attended had a wide assortment of cutco knives. Some of those have remarkably decent edges...not to mention the fact that they are stainless!

I have a Benchmade 190 Drop point hunter in D2. Sweet little knife (3.90'blade) and they can still be found although i believe they are no longer in production.

Most Pot Luck meals I attend give you plastic knives, and paper plates. I always use what I'm carrying, and make sure to double-plate it, as I don't want to slice completely through the plate.

I have an A. G. Russell Woodswalker that serves well, but I want something that looks cooler. I like the Rat-3 suggestion. Has anyone carried the Microtech Manus, formerly known as the Medallion? I like the looks of that one, as well.

I was just on the Fallkniven site and saw a TK5 for 3,295.00....GULP !! ...Is that U.S.Dollars??

You can find the TK5 for $295 from our favorite NGK pharmacy. In this steel you should give it a try. I have the TK1 and love it. It is the closest in performance to a fixed blade in ZDP189 as I can find. Absolutely specatacular!

Sorry, didn't mean to sidetrack the thread.

Currently my fixed blade EDC's are the Bob Dozier Elk Hunter (left cross draw carry) and on my right side I am now trying my new Micro Tech Currahee with a Spyderco Para-military in the pouch. Also on my belt(right side) I have a horizontal carry Spyderco Military with BG-42 steel and carbon fiber scales.

I do a lot of switching off with my EDC fixed blades just so I will know which ones are not a problem with sitting down or getting in and out of the car. My favorite style of carry so far is the "Dangle" style. The dangler just never seems to get in the way whether sitting, standing, getting in and out of the car etc.

What do you think of the seki cut?
http://www.agrussell.com/knives/seconds/sekicut_rainbow_gentlemans_hunterseconds.html

There is one listed as a factory second on that website. It looks like a really nice knife.
Not as beefy as the Rat 3, the becker neck knife, or a Busse warden, but it looks rather classy, more delicate if you will. Im guessing the F1 is also a bit beefier but not so much as the rat 3, or busse.
I also have a Puma Hunters pal, but I am just not the biggest fan of it. (got it as a gift.)

I noticed the woodswalker, not the greatest looking knife I've ever seen but the price is hard to beat. I was thinking about trying one out sometime.

I find the CRK Shadow III size (4 inch blade) a good length for a EDC fixed blade. Just bought another fixed blade to EDC, Extrema Ratio Shrapnel. Both blades are more than what you are looking for but I figure just throw these ideas in the mix.

Nah, one time we were at a potluck and they were gilling steaks but the only knife was a very dull kitchen knife that was not doing the steak justice. Another time we were at a potluck and someone forgot to bring a knife at all. Another time we were at a guys house and they were trying to grill a 5 pound fish but the kitchen knife couldnt get through the thick tail bone.

All of those times i could have used a somewhat tough 3-4 inch EDC fixed.

A.G. Russel Bird and Trout or Deer Hunter
Fallkniven WM1
any of various pukkos from Ragweed. I have one from Karensuando
Spyderco Vagabond (discontinued, but available with a quick Google search)
Bark River - no specific recommendations, but they have a few models that would probably fit your size criteria
Atwood Knife and Tool - very small fixed blades, though some may go above your price limit
Anza

You might also consider a custom. $100 won't get you a blade from someone famous, but it might get you a good rig from a part-time guy or someone who is starting out. Since fixed blades are easier to crank out than folders, it seems like many people start making small fixed blades via stock removal. I have a very EDC-able blade by Arno Bernard with a 2.5" blade. Tom Krein has some stuff just over $100. Bonus with a custom maker is you'll probably get a custom sheath in leather or kydex that is very serviceable.
