The thing you keep referring to is a gun law. The one that covered knives was HB 1935, and has been in effect since Sept 1, 2017.

And it also mentions, "Location Restricted Knives over 5 1/2 inches". I guess what through me is that in your first post you said, "There are no “restrictions on carrying larger blades” that I’m aware of. No restrictions on knives at all anymore that I’m aware of." But yes, only the location restricted.
 
What was nice was, a few years go, they had a gathering of Bowie knife fans at, of all places, the Alamo. It was an outstanding thing to stand there with all kinds of people, wearing all kinds of Bowie knives, from old Puma Bowie from the '60's to custom Bowie's from top makers. Big Bowies, medium Bowies, all welcome. And all admired. It was a huge turnout of knife nuts taking out and admiring each others knives to be passed around and coon fingered and chicken eyed.
