Fixed Blade For 12 y/o Son?

I would look at the ESEE Izula line or maybe a 3. I agree with ny700 that a 4" knife is larger than needed in most instances.

The Schrade has a thicker blade I believe. If you go with the Schrade, look for an older USA made version as they make them cheaper in China now and are not the same quality as the vintage USA versions. Both are in the same price range though.

Just want to add that it was 2004 when schrade was bought out so you'll want one made before that year.
