Fixed blade for a girl

My wife carries a Blind Horse Bushcraft when we camp/hike and my twin daughters (13)-- one has an ESEE 4 and the other a Blade Forums custom from the Exchange (that was given to her by one of our members.)

My wife likes the fat handle of the BH Bushcrafter. It has a full flat grind that makes slicing easy. The ESEE 4 is a no frills knife. It comes with a nice sheath and can be found in different color options.

That's a big knife for someone you are concerned about having a small grip.

A big knife like that can fatigue me with prolonged use.

I'd get her a Mora Companion or No 1 or the Bushcraft black or forest if you want her to have something considered heavy duty.

Fallkniven S-1 has a smaller handle than the A-1. The girl's need for a small handle S-1 would be better .Then biggger than S-1 Blade will be unhandy though neither the S-1 nor A-1 are choppers .

Mikaels comments about chipping I agree with completely. If you do have any problem with cutting , sharpen it two or three times then check it out !! I've seen those production grinding problems often enough and corrected them with simple sharpening .

Fallkniven makes a knife just for women called the WM1. Also, Buck makes a lot of slim handle wonders that will fit small hands and have 4 (102) to 6 inches (119). Cold Steel makes the wonderful, but small, Mini Pendelton Hunter. The Esee 4 (4.5" blade) comes in stainless.
