I am looking to get a fixed blade to carry inside the waistband in a Kydex sheath. I would prefer one with g-10 handles that is under or around $100. Any suggestions?

Not bad at all. That had a weird shape to it though haha.

For the price its very good. And the carry options are a plus.

I would just buy a sheath for a good knife such as the ESEE Izula 2. Maybe you like boot knives?

I carry an Entrek Cobra, and it's already set up for IWB when it comes, although I really do recommend replacing the factory sheath--poor retention and a sloppy fit makes for a dull over time. If you shop around, you can find them for close to $130, or closer to $100 if you go with the Javalina or Jag models.

I actually just sent one back to factory for a new sheath. are the new ones that bad?

They're flimsy--don't get me wrong, the knife isn't going to go through it, but it provides almost no tension on the blade, letting it rock back and forth as you move, sliding the edge across the kydex, which dulls it severely. Last year, I carried that very knife on a four day elk hunt that was entirely unsuccessful, so four days of hiking, climbing, and miles and miles of walking. I'd sharpened the knife before going (and am a better knife sharpener than most) and upon returning home, the knife--which had never cut anything--was dull enough in the belly to draw across the back of my hand safely with any amount of pressure you might want to exert. The heel was still sharp, and out by the point, but the belly was a butter knife.
Entrek knives are outstanding, but the factory sheaths have been very poor for as long as I've known them. Brian Wagner is my go-to kydex maker, and his sheaths completely immobilize the knives inside them. Not cheap, but much like buying an expensive rifle and then putting a crappy scope on it with weaver aluminum rings, I just don't believe in accessorizing good quality with poor.

If you are willing to save and spend a little more.

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but I'm just curious - when I carry IWB, my um, midsection tends to press up around the rig - I'm not as svelt as I used to be, but I wouldn't call myself "fat" either. I could easily slice myself if drawing the blade quickly. Do any of you run into this problem? Are there any set-ups that address this?

If the hilt of the knife rides below the waistband, there is always the danger of getting yourself or your pants. I always have the mouth of the sheath above the waistband when possible, in the four o'clock position. Also, I started bouncing on an urban rebounder (I chose Needak, but there are lots) 12 minutes a day about a year ago, and dropped from 200 pounds to 182 in about three months, and then maintained that weight ever since without any other exercise or diet changes; just throwin' that out there. :)

Thanks for the replies to my question - yeah, yeah, I know I have to lose some weight. Now I feel worse about myself for asking ;)

For around $130 (without shipping factored in) you can get a Scrapyard 311, 411 or 511, Mashed Cat kydex sheath, and a Comp-Tac clip that will disappear completely inside your waistband. I use this setup and it works extremely well.
