Fixed blade for IWB carry

Try the SOG bowie or recon bowie - but get a decent IWB sheath made up for whichever one of them you get - check them out at www.sogknives.com

I've had the bowie for a few weeks - COULDN'T believe what these guys can do with 440a with the SEAL 2000 - holds a better edge that a lot of my cold steel gear - these people really know their heat treatment:-) The SK5 high carbon steel in the sog bowie is great stuff - the total length of the knife is only about 10.5 inches and the blade is 6.25 - but its still a heavy/solid knife - thick blade but holds the best edge of any knife in my collection (apart from maybe my san mai trailmaster bowie:-) Blade has great point for penetration and great belly/scary sharp edge to do some serious cutting damage - stacked leather washer grip - EXTREMELY comfortable/secure feeling (looks like a KABAR grip but *much* better) - small crossguard so that your hand doesn't slip (not that it should anyway:-)

BEST thing about this knife - weight/balance/feel - just perfect - feels damn good in the hand - and it would take a *LOT* to damage this knife:-)

I think I might already own the best knife for IWB carry. The Chris Reeve one piece Shadow IV 5.5 inch spearpoint in A-2. It just needs to have a custom IWB sheath, instead of the standard belt sheath it comes with. Its slim, has guards and a grip that will not allow your hand to dislodge. Certainly a contender. It is toward the larger end of the scale though compared to some suggestions. Just depends on the sheath design. The lack of handle scales, the flatness of the knife, guards, and super secure yet snag free grip are what appeals to me.
