Ok I'm sure that everyone has seen probably around a thousand of these, but everyone loves to add their opinion and i love to hear them so here we go. I have an itch and im thinking that a fixed blade will scratch it quite nicely because as of yet i dont have any. Im still building i havent been at this knife knut thing too long. Anyway I want something that can be used and will stand up to it. the max is $200 range and it has to be something pretty outstanding for me to spend that much. I want something with a pretty good sized blade, no less than 4 inches. I intend to use it outdoors and intend to have a sheath hopefully it will come with one if not then i will aquire one. Ive searched the forums and looked up a few things but i still dont know. I know the size and the price dont match up but if you have some suggestions im all ears.

Not too long ago I picked up a Benchmade Nimravus 140HS and this is a great knife. It has an M2 blade at 4.5" and the overal length is 9.5". The handle slabs are black G-10 and they give you a good grip both regular and reverse. The newest version comes with a kydex sheath that is very nice and holds the knife securely. Right out of the box it was razor sharp. Depending on what you are going to use it for, this knife is a great cutter. It might be a little small if you need if you need a camp type knife or a heavy use beater. Just my $0.02

as i continue to search i wish i had the money for a chris reeve one piece or a busse. but i wonder what the general concensus is about swamp rat knives? and now back to the search!

Why dont you have the money for a Chris Reeve?? You said 200$. That will buy any 4" one piece except the Aviator and 230 will buy a IV one piece with 5.5" blade. Also, the Shadow III is 4.25 tip to handle. You can also get a Kydex for them from various sources or a regular pouch sheath instead of the pancake sheath some come with and have options for carry.

Ive been looking at a desert camp tramp or a becker bk7 does the camp tramp warrent the extra money?

Check out a Dozier Pro Guide or Wilderness. They should meet your needs quite nicely if they're anything like the Doziers I have. His sheaths are like a work of art in themselves.

Camp Tramp is a good choice.....in your price range, decent sheath, tough as can be, lifetime warranty.....even against abuse.

Not afilliated.

Wasz,
Do not overlook the Makers in this forum. There are many makers in this Forum, and outside of it that can create a quality knife in your price range. Good Luck!

unclelnife, did you really mean Sable III or was that a tipo? I've got a Sable IV and really like the design! Probably one of the more underrated knives around IMO.

Wasz,Chris Reeves does rock,I own 3 of them. But you should give a look at the graham knives.I bought my frst one about 3-4 years ago and got hooked. Now I have 12 or so.They have several models and will take more abuse than one person can give. The finish and quality is as good as it gets.I am sure they have something in your price range.www.grahamknives.com

I will second the Benchmade Nimravus. On top of that, don't forge to team it up with a sheath from On/Scene Tactical. Eric's the man.

Check out Bark River Knife & Tool. Other suggestions: Marbles; Fallkniven F1, A1, etc.; CS Master Hunter; Becker; TOPS.

$200 itching your pocket...

Scratch it with a Bark River Woodland Special for $55 from AG Russell. You can spend more but it's not going to work better than this one!

Stilll leaves you with $145 for a big scary knife!

A big YES!!! I've had mine for about 2 years and never regretted the purchase or cost. Well worth it.

You have a lot of good suggestions here. If you really want something special I would also suggest you go with a handmade knife. There is a very real feeling, let's call it "pride of ownership" with a handmade.

My first handmade knife was made by GenO Denning and I bought it from Les Robertson.

Some are a little over your price point, but once you get it in your hand you'll know it was money well spent.
