Fixed Blade Identification Needed! - Odd Stamp

My friend found a knife not too long ago. It has no markings other than "D-2" stamped in the blade. It looks like some sort of knife blank kit to me, given that it has so many pins in the handle. Any clues or ideas would be much appreciated!
