I think I would like to buy a knife making kit fixed blade with the blade already made. Are there any recommendations on a decent kit that want break the bank. I like the helle still blades. I am a Woodturner and wood like to incorporate that into the handle making process. Any recommendations. It will be used for bush crafting task and food prep while camping

Enzo sells complete kits as well as finished knife blanks. Full tang models as well as stick/ rat tail tangs. I just finished a Trapper and it is a great knife.

DLT trading carries them.

Mora sells the blades, and possibly the handle material too. If not you could get the wood from a knife makers supplier.

I have an enzo trapper and I'm really liking it. Got mine in O1. I would love to try to getting a kit and customizing it a bit, preferably with a stainless blade to have options. I think the enzo kit is the best way to go. Depending on the steel you want the kits are anywhere from $60-130.

I believe thenovicewoodsman.com has some other scandi style kits to build your own blade. Not sure if that's an approved seller here on bladeforums (mods please correct if I'm mistaken), but he has an account here and is pretty knowlegable and helpful.

Get a neck knife & make a handle.

I have made knives using blanks from Mora, Helle, and BHK. For all around use I prefer the thinner lighter Mora, I don't bash my knives with logs so the Mora is just dandy for carving and slicing.

Helle Viking very thick blade good for carving lousy for slicing.

Edit: After thinking about it I have put together many knives from blade blanks, a few of the blanks were from Koval Knives, Jantz bought them out many years ago, others were picked up here and there.

A blank from an Ohio Blacksmith I got from Koval 20 years ago.

And a forged SS one from Solingen bought from Koval around the same time.
