I bought a D.H.Russell/Grohmann 'Canadian Boat Knife' from the A.G.Russell (no relation) catalog complete with engraved initials back in '78-9 when I was in Scouts. It worked well as an all 'round straight utility, either riding on my belt in its quality deep ride dangler sheath, or in a pack pocket. Sometime in the late '80s the leather lanyard dissolved, and the handle scales have shrunk slightly over the years, but it wears its 'battle scars' well, and I wouldn't hesitate to rely on it today. Even the leather sheath has held up really well over the years, including a couple canoe trip dunkings and the baking oven effects of auto trunk storage. Reading the link to the article aboot Canadian politico stooges falling for the easy candy of a Chinese business bribery faction made me sad. I wonder if there was any testing done or if it was just ordered from the supply 'experts'. My guess is that the Sino-Canadian Grohmann knockoff is a bit less 'gumball machine' than the CRKT, but I've never seen one. I'm sure the CRKT serves its price point well, and with those wicked Veff serrations it will shred its way through lots of stuff, and be long forgotten by many owners after just a short time.
