Fixed Blade Recommendation

Slightly over budget but SURVIVE! has their GSO 4.1 in S90V in limited stock at the moment. Peters heat treat, a couple of scale and functional options and sheath by BladeForums own Kiahdex. A lot of knife for the money.

Fiddleback Forge, by Andy Roy. You could find one on the exchange for around that price. Lots of models to choose from and you won't be disappointed b

I always thought the BM Nimravus was a great all around fixed blade that never got much praise it seemed it was not a pry bar survival knife though. They made several sheaths over the years not sure which if any would be left hand compatible. The "Cub" version was a 3.65" blade at 4 oz, and the full size a 4.5" blade at 5.8 oz. I've always thought the cub was the closest thing to an EDC fixed blade I've found but part of that is the handle just fits my hand really well. I much prefer the G10 handles though to the Al version. Should be no problem finding them under $170.

Excellent option. Also, and I apologize if the price of this knife offends, but......
Condor Bushlore: $30 wood handled, $50 Mircata handled. awesome knife, and an ambidextrous sheath.

I'm looking for a good fixed blade knife for outdoor use for everything from general yard work to hunting and camping. It needs to have a blade length of 3.5 to 4 inches and fit within a $170 budget. Here's the kicker, I'm left handed so a lefty compatible sheath is a big plus.
A lot of good suggestions so far. I really like my ESEE 4 but an ESEE 3 fits your criteria as it is just under 3.9 inches and a great value.

Why not go handmade? For that amount of money you could probably get a very nice knife from a relatively new maker. I've seen plenty of knives withing that pricerange come by in the knifemakers market here on BF with sheaths to be made AFTER they sold so that the customer could specify the sheath. Can be found right here:

for a few examples currently in there:

$170 (righthanded sheath though)

Couldn't find any without sheath at this time. But I see them all the time. And most makers (if you contact them) will happily make you something new with a lefthanded sheath.
