Fixed blade recommendations

If you are really going to get brutal on your knife, you'll probably prefer to buy two slightly less expensive knives, and they can be quite good, like a Buck.
But Infi and 3V are outstanding materials [as long as you are careful with 3V's tendency to rust. A shorter stout Busse, like an NO, is hard to beat. Also incredible are some of the stouter Lightfoots, and you can ask Greg for S30V, 3V, BG 42, and see if he has the time. They're a bit more, but they are incredible to use. Fehrman may be another great choice, but the only one I have, a Hoods Woods, is a little slender for prying, although I really wouldn't expect it to break.

All in all, probably Busse.

My opinion, get a Strider!! I seriously doubt you'd be disappointed with its performance. Look cool, too.

Another vote for Busse. I've done lots of reading and for a truely heavy duty knife I don't think you can do better in your price range (or possibly even beyond).

I'm pretty sure that I'm gonna go with a Strider. Its a toss up between the BT and the MH models. I really like the D9 but theres no way I'm gonna drop 500 for a knife.
