• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

Fixed blade under 100$ ?

My vote is in for the Nimravus also, but don't overlook the SOG Northwest Ranger, great knife and highly underrated!

No, Max. Hammerhead knives isn't mine, but I am positively flattered that you thought it might be.

Naw, it is one of those listed on my "favorites" list, and I thought the prices and selections there would match what this thread was trying to pin down. I like it too.

As many of us have found and posted - a $10 Mora is a great way to start. You'll find difficulty in beating the performance in knives costing a lot more.
If you can fashion a handle for a knife then right now the Lauri black leuko blades are on sale at: http://www.brisa.multi.fi/start3.html
The blade is 45 Finnish marks and the leather sheath is 55 FM - for a total of about $15 US. I'm pleased with mine and Dennis is a great guy to deal with.
A leuko is a 7" heavy blade - good utility knife.

Hmm... well I thought about a small Kabar some time... it looks just too tempting. But maybe still a little too big for utility or? what do you now about the heat treating of ka-bars in general?
