Fixed blade with lots o' belly!

Gunkote is a powder coating of some sort (I might be mistaken though). Its not that durable in my experience, my mini-dinka has some worn spots from the sheath. Not a bit deal though...grayman knives are not safe queens :)

Kind of off topic but The espadas have a lot of belly I was thinking of getting one, would be cool if they made a fixed espada.

I quite like the Espada too. Only thing that kept me away is the price. Not sure that I'm willing to pay that much for an AUS-8 blade.

Alright. Good to know, thanks. :)

Not a powder coat. It's a spray/bake epoxy finish. I've been using it for years on various projects, but it wouldn't be my first choice for a knife blade.

You should check out Nutnfancy's review of the Ontario SP-46. He took it into the mountains and thumped on it a bit (not much for him, but harder use than I'd probably put the blade to, in practice.) He came away really liking this knife. The full flat grind is really nice for lots of tasks too. And considering you can get it at various dealers for around $60 shipped, its got some good value.

I've seen the review and I quite like it. I think I'd prefer the SP48 for the extra length but I'd have to handle the knives to know which one I like for sure. Too bad I don't know anyone who has a few of these knives that they wouldn't mind lending me to try out.
Thanks for your input. :)

Instead of getting the cold steel why not just get a kabar? The CS leatherneck is basicly a Kabar usmc knife. With kabar you can get leather or synthetic handle. You can also get carbon steel or stainless steel.

Also check out the Kabar warthog. I head they cre bringing it back this year.

Oh, the Ka-bar's already been on my (long) shopping list for a while :p

You know, after researching the knives that have come up in this thread, I may have to get an SP-46 myself...

lol...I suppose such is the nature of these forums!
I'll probably make the trek across town to the knife store to check out as many of these as they have.

Hey bladeforumers. I'm looking for a fixed blade with a 6~8 inch blade with a big curve near the tip (think ghurka kukri but without the bend).

Ka-Bar Adventure Potbelly.

So after a long drive in rush-hour traffic I'm finally back from the knife store. They had the SP48, the Potbelly as well as the Creed. They all felt relatively comfortable in hand. The SP48 was on sale for 45, Potbelly was 90 and the Creed was 195. Still undecided and open to other suggestions but for now it's a fight between the SP48 and the Potbelly.
