Fixed Blade

Becker BK-11 or EsKabar both excellent knives. Also check out the new Ken Onion Fixed Blade knife from CRKT. Very cool, unique knife, and about $50.
 
Boye Basic 3 in dendritic cobalt - factory second (cosmetic and still covered under their warranty)
I had one of the older versions, and it was great -- took forever to get a really good edge on it, but it cut forever before needing more than just a quick touch up on an xfine diamond.
 
I would recommend talking with scott Gossman in the Makers section. He works with stainless, does his own heat treat, and his models are very functional. Check out his psk and good luck
 
The Buck Vanguard is a great all around fixed blade.If you wanted to go all out look at the Alaskan Guide Vanguard.
