....I had a BK2 several years ago and sold it. Now I kind of wish I still had it. The BK2 would have laughed at that log in my OP .

I still have mine. Yes, it is made for tasks like your splitting wood or better yet the BK-9 if you like the Becker line. For me, the BK-2 was and is a total dud. I keep it to remind me of what I should never buy and it is mostly impulse buys.

Added: In my world I can't imagine choosing it to carry in the woods. If the world ended as we know it tomorrow, it would still not be my choice. If I had a wood burning stove or a fireplace I used at home, it would be a good choice to just have by the stove/fireplace for splitting tasks. Very good tool for such a spot.
