Fixed blades

Yeah, the SYKCo WD5 can be real handy for food prep. It instantly went on the duty roster as the go-to kitchen b*tch to test its edge retention. It came with a very smooth polished edge (vs my usually preferred toothy kitchen edges), which I haven't touched since getting it a few weeks ago. Consequently, it never felt all that sharp, but continues to pass the newsprint test like crazy and cuts/chops like a laser in heat. Nonetheless, when it finally dulls I *will* be thinning the relatively thick shoulder behind the edge. Note however, I only deal with boneless meat & veggies. No carcass breakdown to necessitate brute edges.

The finger guard quillion got trimmed short within minutes of being unboxed so it wouldn't elevate the heel of the edge off a cutting board. There's enough swell still remaining, coupled with Res-C grippiness, to keep my fingers from sliding forward onto the blade.

I initially contemplated grinding the spine down level with the top of the handle for aesthetic reasons. But I find it's handy in its original slightly protruding config to scrape chopped/sliced ingredients off of a cutting board into a bowl or pan (something I try to *never* do with the edge of a knife). So it's chop goodies, flip knife over, scrape board clean, flip knife back to edge facing down, keep on cutting. Repeat, repeat, repeat...

Are the Arcitect Knives the same thing from the website “ the knife connection”?

What’s you thoughts on them vs. say your Ratmandu, Volunteer, etc?
Yes, those are the same ones. They are amazing knives, worth every penny. The Volunteer is the best knife out of the knives in my picture. The AK’s Field Buddy’s are better than my RMD in terms of fit and finish on the blades, RMD wins in the handle fit and finish. The Field Buddy is the best readily available production knife I’ve ever used.

ETA: 3K snipe.
